General Dynamics (GD) C4 Systems has been awarded a contract by the US Army to provide continued development and enhancement of the Command Post of the Future (CPOF) system.
The two-year, $78m indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract was originally awarded to GD in 2007.

Under the contract, the company will expand the collaborative command and control capabilities of CPOF to view and share information from multiple control systems, including ground, aviation, logistics, fires and airspace control systems.
An advanced command and control architecture will also be fielded to allow users that are disconnected from the network to continue with collaborative efforts without interruption to operations or loss of data.
The CPOF is an executive-level decision support system that provides situational awareness and collaborative tools to commanders and decision-makers from geographically dispersed locations.
"By enhancing and expanding CPOF’s capabilities, warfighters will be able to communicate better and plan and execute missions faster and more effectively than ever before," said Kevin Merrigan, vice-president of Battle Management Systems at GD C4 Systems.
