Canadian Minister of National Defence Harjit S. Sajjan said: "With the return of the troops based in Petawawa, I am pleased to see additional soldiers deploying from Valcartier to offer continued support to the Ukrainian Armed Forces under Operation Unifier.
"This important training mission demonstrates that Canada, together with our other allies, stands in support of our Ukrainian friends."
Over the next few months, the Canadian soldiers will provide military training and capacity building to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The soldiers will teach basic skills such as shooting, moving and communicating on the battlefield, and treating wounded soldiers.
Conducted with the US military and other partners, Operation Unifier comprises specialised training activities, including an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) and improvised explosive device disposal (IEDD) programme.
