ATK has been awarded a series of contracts for the delivery of medium-calibre cannons to undisclosed US allies.

Valued at more than $220m, the contracts also require the company to provide aftermarket services that will support cannon system integration and product lifecycle.

The company will specifically supply the Bushmaster chain guns and automatic cannons, which it claims are widely acquired for integration across land, air and sea weapons platforms due to their proven performance, reliability and effectiveness.

The cannons and chain guns, ordered under the latest contracts, are manufactured at ATK Armament Systems’ factory in Mesa, Arizona, US.

ATK manufactures a range of Bushmaster automatic cannons, including the GAU-23 30mm, MK44 30 / 40mm , M242 25mm and Bushmaster II 30mm, for ground vehicle, naval and aircraft applications.

Additional contract details, including the number of cannons ordered and delivery schedule, remain undisclosed.

ATK offers fully customisable programmes for integrated logistics, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) quality spares, training, field service support, repair, and remanufacturing capabilities, for its entire line of Bushmaster chain gun and automatic cannons.

The services reportedly ensure that cannons are always fully mission capable, well-maintained and easily upgradable to address future requirements.
