The US Department of Defense (DoD) has awarded a defence contract to Boeing for the production and procurement of Harpoon missile bodies (HMB).
The Harpoon is a subsonic, all-weather anti-ship missile designed for launch from surface ships, submarines and aircraft.

Under the $66m contract, Boeing will manufacture 32 lot 85 Harpoon missile bodies for Taiwan, four Harpoon canister grade B missiles for the Government of Canada and associated spares and support.
The company will also provide the missile spares for the Governments of the UK, the Netherlands, Portugal, Japan, Israel, Pakistan, Turkey and Singapore.
The spares include containers, block II guidance section upgrade kits, wire bundle assemblies and guidance control units.
Of the total contract, Taiwan’s purchase accounts for 66.4%.
