Oshkosh Corporation has been awarded its first contract for heavy equipment transporter systems (HETS) vehicles to the Iraqi Armed Forces.

The HET is designed to quickly deploy M1A1 main battle tanks, armoured vehicles, construction equipment and their crews at mission-ready condition.

Under the $40m-plus contract, the company will provide 60 HETS, which include the Oshkosh HET vehicle and a trailer.

The company will also provide operator training, spare parts and manuals.

The contract was awarded by the US Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (LCMC).

Work is expected to be completed by May 2011.
