The US Army has awarded a contract to Hamilton Sundstrand to supply its auxiliary power units (APU) for the Army’s Black Hawk / Seahawk helicopter programme.
Under the five-year contract, the company will supply up to 1,000 units of the combat-proven T-62-T-40-1 APU with a digital electronic sequence unit and an inlet barrier filter.

APU is a gas turbine engine primarily used during aircraft ground operation to provide electricity and shaft power for main engine start and backup electric power during in-flight operation.
Hamilton’s APU can be used for many fixed wing aircraft including F-16, C-5M, A400M, C-27J, JAS-39 and T/A50, and the rotary wing H-60/S-70, V-22, CH-47F and CH-53K aircraft.
The contract was awarded by the US Army Aviation and Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.
