Oshkosh Defense will provide more than 600 new and recapitalised heavy expanded mobility tactical trucks (HEMTT) to the US Army under two different contracts.

The first contract, valued at over $138m, calls for the production of more than 480 M983A4 HEMTT light equipment transporters and one M1120A4 HEMTT load handling system (LHS).

Under the second contract, worth more than $34m, Oshkosh will recapitalise and deliver 140 HEMTT A4 LHS and cargo truck variants.

Deliveries under the first contract are scheduled to be complete by August 2011 while the work for the second contract will run to March 2011.

The contracts were awarded by the US Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command.
