Selex Sistemi Integrati will provide the Italian armed forces with a digitised communications system, the Forza network-enabled capability (NEC), under a €238mn ($286.5m) contract.

The Forza NEC programme aims to increase the exchange capabilities of armed forces by improving the flow of operational, tactical and logistical information from each vehicle or soldier deployed in the field.

Under the five-year contract, main supplier Selex will be responsible for the system integration of the overall system architecture.

Other Finmeccanica companies involved in the programme are Selex Communications, Selex Galileo, Elsag Datamat, Oto Melara, AgustaWestland and MBDA Italia.
