The statement from the military said that specialist personnel from the European engine manufacturers Turbomeca and Rolls-Royce had arrived in Australia to investigate the engine malfunction.

Australia has ordered a total of 46 MRH-90 helicopters from EADS for its army and navy under a A$4bn (US$3.45bn) deal.

In addition, Australia is yet to select EADS or Lockheed Martin / Sikorsky for a $2bn contract for an additional 25 ship-borne helicopters for its navy.
