Harris Corporation will supply hardware for integration on US military multifunctional information distribution system (MIDS) terminals.

Under the $18 million contract awarded by ViaSat, Harris will provide enhanced voice card, power supply assemblies, processor modules and the chassis for each of the MIDS terminals.

The MIDS terminals provide high-capacity, jam-resistant, digital communication links to help the military exchange tactical data and voice information among users in the air, on ground and at sea.

The company will also provide comprehensive environmental testing of the completed assemblies for ViaSat’s MIDS low volume terminal (LVT).

The LVT provides voice and data transmission capabilities based on Link 16 protocol requirements for digital tactical communications.

The MIDS LVT Link 16 protocol provides military aircraft with tactical information including threat and targeting data from the battlefield.
