A new variant of the Thales Bushmaster protected mobility vehicle has been equipped with an interrogation arm to help crews investigate improvised explosive devices from within the vehicle.
The vehicle currently being delivered to the Dutch forces fighting in Oruzgan province, Afghanistan comes equipped with an interrogation arm fitted with a camera and metal detector to help crews uncover, investigate and examine suspect items.

Thales Australia’s managing director Chris Jenkins said that the increasing threats posed by IEDs are a driving factor in technological innovation.
“The Bushmaster’s flexibility allows us to incorporate new capabilities and systems, which offer troops increased levels of protection as they carry out their duties,” said Jenkins.
Thales is currently delivering nine vehicles to the Netherlands Ministry of Defence. Thales will eventually deliver a total of 58 Bushmaster vehicles.
