Chemring Ordnance has received a contract from the US Army to manufacture the mk7 mod 2 anti-personnel obstacle breaching system (APOBS).

The $52.5m contract is the second option utilised by the army, and the total contract is estimated to be worth in excess of $150m over three years if all options are exercised.

The APOBS is an explosive line charge system that is used to allow safe breaching through enemy antipersonnel minefields and multistrand wire obstacles.

The 125lb lightweight system can be deployed by a team of two within 30-120 seconds.
