Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has test fired different types of newly developed missiles in ongoing exercises, which began on 27 June 2011.

During the first stage of the exercises, codenamed Payambar-e Azam (the Great Messenger) 6, the IRGC tested Fateh-110 missiles.

The Fateh-110 is a short-range, road-mobile, solid-propellant, high-precision ballistic missile with advanced navigation and control systems.

During the second phase, nine Zelzal ground-to-ground missiles, five Shahab Class missiles, including two mid-range Shahab-I, two mid-range Shahab-II and a long-range Shahab-III, were fired simultaneously.

The liquid-fuel Shahab-III missile has a range of up to 2000km and is capable of carrying a 760kg-1,000kg warhead and is more precise than previous models.
