Raytheon has received a contract to provide advanced airborne data processing technology for the US Missile Defense Agency (MDA).

Under the $10m contract, the company will develop the software necessary for the airborne processors to allow US forces to respond to potential threats and to help the agency to achieve its long-term objectives.

The airborne processors will be used by MDA to examine the effectiveness of airborne multispectral targeting sensors (MTS) that provide forward-based, fire-control quality tracks as part of the ballistic missile defence system.

The processing technology offers real-time automated detection and tracking on-board discrimination and transfer of information to the warfighter.
