Russia’s ground forces will soon start receiving new Tornado-G multiple rocket-launching systems (MRLS), Russian Army spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Sergei Vlasov has said.

The new MRLS is set to replace the current Grad truck-mounted system to further increase army firepower and stand-off capability for effective engagement, according to RIA Novosti.

The Tornado MRLS vehicle has an effective range of 90km and can carry 12 300mm rockets featuring superior effectiveness, automated control, as well as aiming and satellite navigation systems.

The Grad system has been in service with the ground forces since 1964 and features 122mm rockets with a range of 30km-40km.
