The Finnish Defence Force plans to acquire new short-range anti-aircraft missiles and the army has already started seeking information about weapons from various manufacturers.
Finnish Army Lieutenant Colonel Sami-Antti Takamaa said the information, including the cost regarding acquisition, would remain confidential until bids for tenders take place.

The request for bids will take place next year and a political decision on the acquisition is expected in the next government term, according to Helsingin Sanomat.
The new missiles will primarily replace the 23mm Sergei AA guns, which were bought from the Soviet Union.
The shoulder-launched anti-aircraft missiles will be operational in 2015 and would be used by regional forces as part of the development of the Finnish Army.
