The Resolute Support mission led by Nato is continuing its support to Afghan security forces and institutions to minimise the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

Afghan Forces continue to mitigate risks against the virus while ensuring security for the people of their country from terrorism.

Recently, Resolute Support also aided in the delivery of supplies to Afghan National Police units in Panjshir and Parwan provinces.

Medical supplies and equipment delivered include approximately 7,000 masks, more than 8,000 pairs of gloves, cleaning supplies and other personal protective equipment.

In the provinces of Helmand and Nimroz, Resolute Support facilitated the transportation of critical supplies to Afghan Army units.

This delivery included 13,000 masks and 1,000 sets of protective gear. Additionally, disinfectants, sanitisers and cleaning supplies were delivered.

In Nuristan province, Afghan National Police received medical equipment and cleaning materials, sanitisers and personal protective equipment by Resolute Support.

Under the Nato-led Resolute Support mission, the support group is mandated to train, advise and assist the Afghan security forces and institutions.

Following the previous International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) led by Nato, the support mission was launched on 1 January 2015.

Nato is committed to providing continued support for Afghan partners against terrorism and creating conditions for lasting peace in the region amid the health crisis.
