It also signifies the culmination of a collaborative system integration project that saw extensive partnership with the Polish defence industry, notably with PIT-RADWAR, stated MBDA.

The equipment provided includes the MBDA components for Poland’s first PILICA+ firing unit, complemented by the Zenit C2 and Bystra Radar systems from PIT-RADWAR.

The CAMM missile is designed to operate across land, maritime, and aerial platforms.

With the arrival of the launchers in Poland, defence company Wojskowe Zakłady Uzbrojenia (WZU) will undertake further steps including camouflage painting in accordance with Polish schemes, mounting on Jelcz vehicles native to Poland, and fitting of Polish Network radios.

These steps are anticipated to be completed before the systems are officially handed over to the Polish military forces.

MBDA will then collaborate with local industry partners to commence a comprehensive training program for Polish Air Defence regiments to ensure readiness for operational deployment.

MBDA Group Poland managing director Jim Price said: “This milestone in our PILICA+ contract has been achieved thanks to intensive work by our teams and is vitally important in ensuring that Polish warfighters receive the equipment they need.

“It is the latest in a number of Polish-UK cooperation programmes providing significant air defence capabilities to Poland, with NAREW also progressing well. MBDA’s close partnership with PGZ is bringing our industries closer together, enabling sovereignty and supporting jobs, and is underpinned by the strong support of Polish and UK Governments for missile co-operation.”

As one of Nato’s “largest” European short-range air defence procurement projects, PILICA+ incorporates an integrated system featuring Polish command and control units and radar systems.

The system is designed to function as part of a multi-tiered national air defence network that includes the advanced WISLA system and the mid-tier NAREW system.
