LONGBOW Limited Liability Company (LBL) has achieved a milestone with the delivery of the 500th APG-78 LONGBOW Fire Control Radar (FCR).
The LONGBOW FCR system is designed and fielded for the AH-64D/E Apache helicopter.

The FCR has also been acquired by allied nations. The 500th unit was delivered to the Qatar Emiri Air Force.
LLB is a joint venture (JV) between Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin.
In January this year, LBL won a five-year indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract from the US Army.
Under the contract, the post-production support services of LONGBOW FCR has been extended to international customers by the US.

By GlobalDataDeliveries of the LONGBOW FCR are expected to continue through 2028.
Northrop Grumman LONGBOW programmes director and LBL vice-president Shalini Gupta said: “The LONGBOW team has been delivering systems for over 20 years to the US Army and 13 international allies.
“Delivering the 500th unit is a recognition of the significant operational performance capabilities of reconnaissance, attack and security our LONGBOW radar delivers to the global customer community.”
It has been developed to provide US Army Apache aircrews with decisive situational awareness, beyond maximum engagement ranges.
Once integrated with Apache, the LONGBOW FCR delivers automatic target detection, location, classification and prioritisation.
It enables target engagement in all weather conditions over multiple terrains.
Using version 6 FCR software, the air vehicle is enhanced for operations, maritime mission, and 360-degree surveillance mode with an extended detection range capability against land, air and sea targets.

Production of LONGBOW FCR commenced in 1998.
