It follows an initial $256m order that was awarded to L3Harris on 15 April 2024. The first ENVG-B order marked the commencement of ENVG-B’s Program of Record full-scale IDIQ that is projected to reach nearly $1bn in value over a decade.

L3Harris communication systems president Sam Mehta said: “Our innovative fused night-vision technology provides US soldiers the most sophisticated capability available to identify and engage targets in limited light before adversaries see them.

“With the ability to extend the system as a communication hub or sensor, we can increase soldiers’ situational awareness and drive connectivity with the larger integrated tactical network.”

L3Harris has described the ENVG-B system as a helmet-mounted, dual-waveband goggle that integrates ‘fused white phosphor’ and ‘thermal’ technologies.

The device is designed to improve soldiers’ situational awareness by enabling clearer vision at extended ranges during nighttime and in dimly lit conditions.

It provides soldiers with improved capabilities to detect, engage, and neutralise threats, enhancing mission outcomes and safety.

The system’s high figure of merit levels offer greater visibility in low-light conditions, according to the company.

The fusion of Image Intensified white phosphor tubes with thermal imaging in the ENVG-B allows soldiers to receive real-time, actionable intelligence.

US Senator Jeanne Shaheen said: “The defence industrial base in New Hampshire contributes immensely to our national security – and this new investment in L3Harris’ ENVG-B programme will continue to fuel production of cutting-edge night vision capability for the warfighter in Londonderry.

“I’m proud of the L3Harris workforce here in New Hampshire and the important work they are doing to enhance our national defence.”

To date, L3Harris has supplied more than 18,000 ENVG-B systems to the US Army.

The company is committed to further advancing the ENVG-Bs and similar technologies through sustained investments in night-vision technology, artificial intelligence, and the development of open-system architecture.

These efforts aim to bolster the capabilities of the numerous systems that will be fielded by the Army.

L3Harris has also provided more than 28,000 advanced vision goggles to warfighters globally, including the company’s Binocular Night Vision Device – Fused model.
