As agreed, L3Harris will deliver around 100 WESCAM MX-RSTA EO/IR systems. These systems will be installed on General Dynamics’ European Land Systems fleet of EAGLE 6×6 vehicles.

The sighting system is usually mounted on amphibious, armoured combat and reconnaissance vehicles for surveillance, reconnaissance and target acquisition missions.

The procurement of WESCAM MX-RSTA systems is expected to enhance Swiss Armed Forces’ land-sighting capability especially during on-the-move armoured vehicular missions.

Currently, L3Harris operates more than 5,000 WESCAM MX systems across 80 countries.

L3Harris Electro Optical president Murali Krishnan said: “The WESCAM MX-RSTA is a key element in the intelligence-gathering solution for the TASYS platform, providing long-range state-of-the-art reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition capabilities.

“We are now entering the production phase of this contract, which will deliver an advanced mounted and dismounted multi-sensor intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capability for the Swiss Armed Forces.”

The deliveries are expected to complete by the end of 2024.

Last month, L3Harris Technologies received a contract to supply Small Tactical Optical Rifle-Mounted Micro Laser Rangefinder 2 (STORM 2) to the US Army. The deliveries will include more than combat-ready systems.

The company is also delivering its Enhanced Night Vision Goggle – Binocular (ENVG-B) to the US Army.
