The Government of Kuwait has requested a foreign military sale (FMS) of 84 Patriot Advanced Capability (PAC-3) Missile Segment Enhancements (MSEs) and associated equipment from the US.

The FMS has been approved by the US State Department and notified to Congress by the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA).

Under the estimated $800m possible sale, Kuwait is seeking delivery of PAC-3 MSEs with canisters, two Patriot MSE test missiles, 35 remanufactured upgrades, Patriot modification kit, missile launchers, 26 PAC-3 Missile Round Trainer (MRT) and 26 Empty Round Trainer (ERT).

Additionally, the sale package will include one Flight Test Target -Zombie, PAC-3 missile spares for repair and return, two PAC-3 telemetry kits, training devices, organisational equipment and repair, support, test equipment, along with personnel training equipment and logistics support services.

In a statement, DSCA said the capability will enable Kuwait to integrate with US forces during training exercises, which ‘contributes to regional security and interoperability’.

Lockheed Martin will serve as the principal contractor on this sale programme.

Additionally, the US has approved FMS of a Patriot missile repair and return programme to Kuwait.

The $200m sale includes Patriot GEM-T missile and missile components repair services, transportation, organisational equipment and repair, support, test, personnel training equipment.

Separately, Kuwait has also requested a $425m FMS for the Patriot programme sustainment and technical assistance.

Awarded as a follow-on support, the sale includes PAC-3 Field Surveillance Program (FSP) services, Patriot PAC-3 Missile Support Center (P3MSC) support and technical support for the Kuwait Missile Assembly/Disassembly Facility (MADF).
