Kratos Defense & Security Solutions is set to unveil its latest mixed reality (MR) simulation platform at the ongoing I/ITSEC modelling, simulation and training event in Orlando, Florida, US.

MR goes beyond virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), and integrates a wide range of advanced technologies for sight, sound, smell and haptics to provide the US Department of Defense with high-fidelity training in a safer and more cost-effective environment.

Kratos’ MR technology offers a platform-based approach to immersive environments that includes commercial market components, requires a smaller footprint and provides training virtually anywhere.

The simulation platform integrates the capability and performance of superior commercial off-the-shelf devices such as VR headsets and stereoscopic cameras.

“Using the platform, course developers will be able to choose the scenarios that suit their training goals.”

Kratos Training Services senior vice-president Jose Diaz said: “A platform-based solution in addition to creating an enhanced immersive environment reduces investment and lifecycle costs by providing a solution set that embraces commercial market components, requires a smaller footprint and delivers greater ease of technology infusion concurrency.”

Using the platform, course developers will be able to choose the scenarios that suit their training goals.
