European defence company KNDS has announced the upcoming departure of Nicolas Chamussy from his position as CEO of KNDS France.

Chamussy will step down from the position effective 30 September 2025, after more than four years at the helm.

Appointed in April 2021, Chamussy’s tenure has been marked by a strategic adaptation to the changing international and European defence landscape, said KNDS.

His leadership is said to have been instrumental in accelerating the company’s growth, increasing its pace of development, and met customer requirements for industrial expansion and operational efficiency.

KNDS CEO Jean-Paul Alary said: “On behalf of the board of directors and KNDS leadership team, I would like to thank Nicolas for his commitment and significant contribution to the Group’s development. We wish him every success in the next chapter of his career.”

In the interim period following Chamussy’s departure, current chief financial officer of KNDS France Nicolas Million, will take on the role of interim CEO until a permanent successor is appointed.

Chamussy is a graduate of École Polytechnique, École Nationale Supérieure de Techniques Avancées (ENSTA), and the Institut d’Études Politiques de Paris. He began his career at the Direction Générale de l’Armement (DGA), where he served as manager for industrial affairs and armament programmes.

He later worked for the French Minister of Defense and the Budget Department of the Ministry of the Economy and Finance.

Chamussy’s experience includes senior roles at EADS in their space and defence units, Astrium and Cassidian.

He was also chief of staff to the CEO of Airbus from 2012 to 2016 and director of Space Systems at Airbus Defense and Space, where he was part of the executive committee.

Since June 2019, he has served as space advisor for Airbus.

KNDS France focuses on designing and producing artillery systems, guns and turrets, armoured vehicles, ammunition, robots and defence equipment.

With nine sites in France, the business has 4,500 employees, according to its website.

In June 2025, the French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA) ordered 40mm telescoped ammunition from KNDS France.
