HII’s Mission Technologies division has received a $197m contract to research and develop enhancements for the US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command’s Ground Vehicle Systems Centre (DEVCOM GVSC).
The contract was granted under the Department of Defence Information Analysis Centre’s (DoDIAC) multiple-award contract vehicle.

The five-year task order supports GVSC’s ground combat systems and service lifecycle efforts.
The research will focus on vehicle power and mobility, encompassing a range of Army vehicles, including manned and uncrewed ground combat vehicles, hybrid models, joint light tactical vehicles, and robotic vehicles.
The primary work will be conducted in Warren, Michigan.

The IAC MAC task orders are facilitated by the US Air Force’s 774th Enterprise Sourcing Squadron. There are aimed at developing new knowledge to enhance the Defence Technical Information Centre (DTIC) repository and support the research and development and science and technology (S&T) community.
GVSC’s mission is to expedite the development and maintenance of ground system capabilities, providing its partners with superior capabilities to ensure a tactical advantage for its forces.
In May, Concurrent Technologies was contracted to assist GVSC in tackling the challenge of rising combat vehicle weights. The collaboration focuses on integrating lighter materials and advanced manufacturing techniques to address this issue.
American Rheinmetall Vehicles is also working with DEVCOM GVSC on an ongoing basis to advance the development of integrated technologies for combat vehicle suspension, tracks, and running gear systems.
Earlier in 2024, HII reported net earnings of $153m for the first quarter (Q1) of fiscal year 2024 (FY24), marking an increase of 18.6% compared to $129m in Q1 FY2023.
Revenues for HII in Q1 FY24 reached $2.8bn, reflecting a 4.9% rise from $2.6bn reported in the same quarter last year.
