The German Federal Ministry of Defence (MOD) has selected a subsidiary of Elbit Systems to supply the E-LynX soldier radios (PNR 1000) to the German Army.

Elbit Systems’ subsidiary in Germany will provide the radios in handheld and vehicular configurations.

Following the procurement of the E-LynX soldier radios, the army will use them at platoon and company levels.

The radios are designed for installation on board various combat vehicles, including the SPz PUMA.

The programme will include the transfer of technology (TOT) to enable the development and manufacturing of E-LynX soldier radios in Germany.

In addition, it will support the development of further extensions and capabilities.

The company noted that it will carry out the development and production of the radios at its facilities in Ulm, Germany.

Elbit System C4I and cyber division executive vice-president and general manager Haim Delmar said: “We are proud to have been selected to provide the German Army with E-Lynx soldier radios.

“I am confident the open architecture nature of the E-Lynx radio system, the depth of the TOT involved and the excellent capabilities we have in Germany will facilitate on-time deliveries, effective local support and the collaborative evolvement needed for developing future services and applications.”

The E-LynX soldier radios are designed to enable advanced networked combat solutions in both open field and urban areas.

Soldiers can use the system for access to several voice groups in a single channel and fast data services.

The radios will support the effective closing of the sensor to shooter loop. Additionally, integrated blue force tracking (BFT) capability offered by the systems will facilitate accurate location monitoring.

The radios are incorporated with concurrent flooding techniques that offer extended range over a multi-hop network and improved network agility and robustness.

Furthermore, flooding techniques help reduce network latency.
