Israeli defence company Elbit Systems has acquired BAE Systems Rokar International for a cash consideration of approximately $31m.

BAE Systems Rokar International is the US-headquartered subsidiary of BAE Systems.

Jerusalem-based Rokar specialises in the development, manufacture, integration as well as support of high-end global positioning system (GPS) receivers.

It is also engaged in the development of guidance systems for advanced defence applications.

Elbit Systems president and CEO Bezhalel (Butzi) Machlis said: “There is increasing demand for our networked precision fire solutions.

“Rokar’s technologies are integrated in our solutions and the acquisition will further enhance our capabilities in this growing area of activity.”

BAE Systems Rokar delivers full suite of GPS solutions. These solutions integrate customised hardware, software, as well as algorithms.

The company designs systems for ‘standalone use’ in a complete navigation system, or as GPS boards where the systems can be embedded in an inertial system.

Furthermore, Rokar offers services with regard to development, manufacture, and qualification of radiation-tolerant systems in space systems.

Headquartered in Haifa of Israel, Elbit Systems is a technology company that is globally engaged in a wide range of defence, homeland security and commercial programmes.

The company operates in the areas of aerospace, land and naval systems, command, control, communications, computers, intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR), unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), advanced electro-optics, electro-optic space systems, as well as data links and communications systems, radios, cyber-based systems and munition systems.

Last month, Elbit Systems and Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) agreed to collaborate and develop the next generation of UAS solutions.
