BAE Systems has secured an $8m contract from the US Army’s Defense Ordnance Technology Consortium to produce precision-guidance kits for 155mm artillery munitions.

The kits will help improve the strike accuracy of the munitions, allowing troops to engage targets accurately with less ammunition for long time.

Polaris Government and Defense has entered a two-year contract to supply new vehicles to the Latvian National Armed Forces under a foreign military sales (FMS) programme.

Polaris will deliver MRZR 2 side-by-side vehicles, and SPORTSMAN 6×6 and MV850 all-terrain vehicles as well as spares and maintenance services to Latvia, under the contract.

The all-terrain vehicles will be used by the Latvian National Armed Forces for border security missions.

The company will provide TLS services for ADF’s battle management system command and control (BMS C2) programme.

The contract has a five-year base period with a seven-year extension option. It is expected to strengthen Elbit Systems of Australia’s local engineering and support capabilities.

Lockheed Martin has received a $459m contract to extend its support for the US Army’s terminal high-altitude area defence (THAAD) weapon system.

Awarded by the US Missile Defense Agency, the deal will involve the production and supply of interceptors along with providing related support for the THAAD weapon system.

The latest contract is an extension to the original contract awarded to Lockheed Martin in December 2015.
