L3 Technologies has secured a three-year contract worth $391m from the US Army Contracting Command to deliver enhanced night vision goggle-binocular (ENVG-B) systems.

The ENVG-B night vision goggles (NVGs) are slated to be integrated into the US Army’s next-generation family of weapon sights in order to enhance its interoperability and data sharing capabilities.

The next-generation binocular NVGs are equipped with a thermal channel that will help army personnel to detect thermal infrared targets.

US-based L3 Technologies is primarily focused on the provision of command and control, communications, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C3ISR) products and solutions for aerospace and defence applications.

KBRwyle, a provider of engineering, technical and scientific solutions for government customers, has been selected by the US Department of Defense (DoD) as one of the prime contractors for the Joint Test and Evaluation (JT&E) contract, which is valued at $900m.

The company will also offer additional support such as specialised engineering, intelligence and cybersecurity services under the deal, in addition to conducting testing and evaluation programmes.

Oshkosh Defense has secured four additional orders worth $159.6m from the US Army Contracting Command (ACC) to develop and deliver a total of 771 family of medium tactical vehicles (FMTVs).

The deal involves the supply of 17 distinct FMTV models, which will feature payload capacities ranging between 2.5t and 10t.

The vehicles are intended to be used for a range of missions, including combat and disaster relief, as well as logistics and supply operations.

Teledyne Technologies Inc subsidiary Teledyne Brown Engineering has received a $79.6m task order to design and develop realistic-threat ballistic target missiles, known as Zombie, which will be used during the testing and evaluation of advance missile defence systems.

The order has been awarded by the US Army Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC) / US Army Forces Strategic Command (ARSTRAT) under the Design, Development, Demonstration and Integration (D3I) Domain 1 contract.

The Israeli Government has approved the proposed acquisition of IMI Systems Ltd by Elbit Systems for a sum of approximately NIS1.8bn ($495m).

The acquisition is anticipated to allow Elbit Systems to offer enhanced solutions to both the domestic and international markets, while supporting the company’s long-term growth strategy.

It is also expected to bring a number of economic benefits to Israel.
