Danish Defence Minister Claus Hjort Frederiksen was quoted by Jane’s as saying: “Our soldiers need modern equipment that meets the demands of the future battlefield … With these vehicles, I am confident that we can stand up in the future.”

GDELS signed a contract with the DALO for the delivery of 309 PIRANHA 8×8 armoured personnel carriers (APC) in December 2015.

With a value of approximately $600m, the contract involved the delivery of the APC in six variants, namely infantry, command, ambulance, engineer, mortar and repair.

The wheeled PIRANHA 5 vehicle is designed to offer high protection against ballistic threats, mines and improvised explosive devices.
