Collins Aerospace has demonstrated certain capabilities to support Combined Joint All Domain Command and Control (CJADC2) initiatives for the US Army and joint services.

The demonstration was conducted at the University of Iowa’s operator performance laboratory and involved testing the potential applications of resilient networking and intelligent sensing technologies.

The exhibit aimed to demonstrate the capabilities of integrated technologies and joint connectivity to increase situational awareness and gain actional data.

This will help the warfighters in decision making while operating in evolving threat conditions.

The demonstration included more than a dozen technologies integrated into an operationally relevant joint force use case.

The assets involved carried out a detect, identify, locate and report (DILR) mission on an active RF radar using surrogate future attack reconnaissance aircraft (FARA), air launched effects (ALE) and Grey Eagle aircraft.

In the test, the ALE used Collins’ RapidEdge autonomy mission system to identify and process key target information and then transmit the collected data to the FARA and Grey Eagle through a tactical targeting networking technology (TTNT) mesh network.

Using FARA, Collins’ Rosetta message processing software, INFAMITM sensor management framework, and SecureOne multiple level security (MLS) system separated the target information into multiple security levels and then transmitted the appropriate data to real and simulated ground and air platforms.

Simulated ground and air shooters engaged subsequently.

The demonstration addressed a key challenge of maintaining secure dataflow communications across the distributed battlespace.

Collins Aerospace CJADC2 Demonstration and Experimentation vice-president Elaine Bitonti said: “This is the bedrock of success for CJADC2. Being able to do this instantly and securely at the tactical edge, over multiple networks, were the highlighted differentiators brought to light in our demonstration.”

Last year, Collins Aerospace demonstrated a communication system to enable connectivity in the CJADC2 battlespace.
