Saudi Arabia requests $1.31bn sale of howitzer systems from US
The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress of a possible foreign military sale of 155mm M109A5 / A6 medium self-propelled howitzer structures to Saudi Arabia for conversion to M109A6 Paladin howitzer systems.
The possible $1.31bn sale was requested by the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and approved by the US State Department.

Under the deal, Saudi Arabia has proposed the acquisition of 180 155mm M109A5 / A6 howitzer structures for conversion to 177 units of 155mm M109A6 Paladin medium self-propelled howitzer systems.
General Dynamics buys CSRA for $9.7bn
General Dynamics (GD) acquired federal information technology services provider CSRA in a $9.7bn all-cash deal.
CSRA will become a part of General Dynamics Information Technology, intending to create a premier high-tech IT provider for the government market.
According to GD, the transaction is expected to add to GAAP earnings per share and free cash flow per share next year.

The UK-led Joint Warrior 2018 started off the coast of Scotland as Nato’s biggest multinational military exercise.
More than 11,600 military personnel from 17 countries across the globe participated in the two-week exercise, which enables Nato allies and partner nations to train jointly across air, land, sea and cyber domains.
The exercise involves all three UK military services and maritime forces from countries such as Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Spain, and the US, as well as non-Nato partners Australia, Finland, and Sweden.
Spain requests $1.3bn sale of CH-47F helicopters from US
The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress of a possible $1.3bn foreign military sale of CH-47F cargo helicopters to Spain.
The potential sale was requested by the Government of Spain and approved by the US State Department.
Under the proposed deal, Spain requested to purchase 17 of the CH-47F aircraft with custom modifications, in addition to 21 units of the AN / AAR-57A(V)8 common missile warning system (CMWS), and 42 embedded global positioning system (GPS) inertial navigation systems.
Ukrainian Army conducts final testing of Vilkha missile
The Ukrainian Army successfully conducted the final test firing of Ukroboronprom’s Vilkha missile complex in the country’s Kherson region.
Several Ukroboronprom enterprises and other Ukranian defence companies were engaged in the production of the missile complex.
Successful testing of Vilkha allows the high-precision weaponry to help significantly enhance the efficiency of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
GD wins $300m contract to support US Army INSCOM
General Dynamics (GD) Information Technology received a single-award task order contract to operate and maintain information technology (IT) networks for the US Army.
The Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM) IT Support Services 3 contract has a potential value of approximately $300m.
Under the deal, GD will be responsible for delivering support services for network and maintenance operations, storage management, information assurance, engineering, installation, web services, and communications.
BAE Systems and Milrem to support Estonia’s CV9035 IFV fleet
BAE Systems signed a long-term contract with Milrem LCM to support CV9035 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) for the Estonian Defence Forces.
This contract followed BAE Systems and the Estonian Government contracts to maintain and sustain the IFV fleet signed in April last year.
The contract covers a total of 44 CV9035 vehicles acquired by the Estonian Ministry of Defence from the Netherlands in 2014.
Altavian wins $250m contract to support US Army UAS programme
Drone engineering and manufacturing company Altavian secured a $250m indefinite-delivery indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract for the US Army’s small unmanned aircraft system (UAS) programme.
Under the Program Executive Office Aviation’s products office for tactical unmanned aircraft (TUAS), the company will be responsible for supporting the US Army’s family of small unmanned aircraft systems (FoSUAS), including the RQ-11 and the RQ-20 autonomous aircraft.
In addition, it will support control and communications equipment, as well as other technologies that are to be fielded over the contracted period of performance.
Saab to supply advanced training systems to Swedish Army
The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) signed a new contract with Saab for the delivery of training systems for the Swedish Army.
Under the deal, the company will be responsible for supplying the Manpack 300 training system to regiments in Sweden and several networked base stations.
Saab Dynamics training and simulation head Åsa Thegström said: “With this order, the Swedish Army is upgrading and modernising its training capability.
“The new systems allow for larger geographical coverage for the training. It also ensures that radio communication can be recorded via the base stations, allowing the customer to evaluate that part of the training.”
India’s OFB and BEML unveil 155mm 52 calibre mounted gun system
Arms industry company Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) and manufacturer Bharat Earth Movers (BEML) launched their latest 155mm 52 calibre mounted gun system at the DefExpo 2018 held in Chennai, India.
The new gun system has been completely and independently designed and produced by OFB, in collaboration with BEML and arms manufacturing company Bharat Electronics (BEL). The development supports the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.
The mounted gun includes the latest advanced laying and sighting systems, such as global positioning system (GPS)-aided inertial navigation systems (INS).
