UK-based company Chemring Group subsidiary Chemring Countermeasures USA (CCM USA) has secured two new defence contracts with a total value of approximately $42m.
The first contract has been awarded under the company’s current indefinite delivery / indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract with the US Army Garrison at Rock Island Arsenal.

Valued at approximately $32m, the five-year contract will cover the production and delivery of M206 and MJU-7A / B infrared decoys for the US Army and the US Air Force (USAF).
With work on the project to be conducted at CCM USA’s manufacturing facility in Toone, Tennessee, deliveries of the decoys under the contract will be carried out by the company between this year and next.
Under the second contract, the company will manufacture and supply MJU-66 special material decoys for the USAF.
The contract, worth approximately $10m, is the second award under the $29m IDIQ contract that was announced in August last year.

By GlobalDataCCM USA will carry out the deliveries of the MJU-66 system next year. Work will be performed at the company site in Chester Township, Pennsylvania.
Chemring group chief executive Michael Ord said: “These contracts demonstrate the continued confidence of the US Army and Air Force in Chemring’s ability to develop and supply quality aircraft countermeasures, and it reinforces the group’s decision to invest in the transformation project at our Tennessee facility.
“These contracts complete the required FY18 order intake in our countermeasures segment provide a strong platform for FY19, and are further evidence of the recovery and our strengthening position in the global countermeasures market.”
