Defence company Alion Science and Technology has secured a cyber-security multiple-award contract (MAC) to provide US warfighters with a joint training synthetic environment (JTSE).

Valued at $34.9m, the MAC Information Analysis Center (IAC) indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ), Technical Area Task, has been awarded by the US Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC), in support of the Joint Staff J7, Deputy Director Joint Training (JS J7 DDJT).

Alion will be responsible for delivering the Joint Force warfighters with a complete range of training application design, development, and maintenance support, including a JTSE.

Under the contract, the company will offer a scalable, open-source-architecture-enabled environment to support current and emerging joint training requirements.

The JTSE solution provided by the company will enable operations and data exchange between simulations, irrespective of their computing platform.

This will enable the US armed forces to train themselves using the same scenarios, obstacles, and teamwork that they are expected to encounter on the battlefield.

The scope of the three-year contract focuses on supporting the Joint Training Enterprise, which includes the Combatant Commands (CCMDs), services, agencies, industry and multinational partners who address joint warfighting.

Alion Science and Technology senior vice-president Distributed Simulation Group (DSG) head Terri Walker-Spoonhour said: “We’re excited to apply our 18 years of experience designing and supporting the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) to deliver a solution that keeps pace with an ever-changing operational landscape.
