The UK Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) has released its commercial strategy to set out its vision for future procurement plans.

Launched on behalf of the Ministry of Defence (MoD), the strategy sets out a vision of working with the industry in the soft and hard facilities management, construction and property advisory sectors.

DIO spends approximately £3bn each year to procure infrastructure services that would enable the defence personnel to live, work, train and deploy across the UK and overseas.

The commercial strategy offers information on the different types of opportunities available to prospective suppliers and outlines plans to support and sustain a competitive market. It was developed in consultation with industry partners.

With the adoption of the strategy, DIO aims to increase the number of suppliers and develop a competitive supply base that would provide small and medium-sized enterprises and larger suppliers with enhanced opportunities.

This will help boost economic growth in the country and in the regions and would enable businesses to recruit more staff.
