The US Army’s Aviation and Missile Command has awarded a five-year contract to Cobham for the supply of Microclimate Cooling Systems (MCS) to the Air Warrior Programme office.

The MCS, designed for use on helicopters and ground vehicles, is a compact, self-contained vapour compression cycle cooling system designed to extend mission duration of soldiers by preventing heat stress in extreme climates.

The system will maintain the body temperature of the soldiers and enhance their operational effectiveness.

The indefinite delivery/definite quantity contract work will be carried out at Cobham’s Life Support unit in New York.

More than 15,000 systems are installed in US military helicopters and armoured vehicles.
