The US Army has selected Javelin Joint Venture to provide life-cycle contract support for the Javelin anti-tank missile and command launch unit.

Javelin is the world’s first man-portable, medium-range missile system. The fire-and-forget lightweight missile is designed for one-soldier operations in all environments.

A joint venture between Raytheon Company and Lockheed Martin, the Javelin Joint Venture will also provide the army with depot spares, repair support, training and data.

The five-year $298.6m contract has a funded value of $34.9m for the 2009 fiscal year.
