SRCTec, the manufacturing arm of defence contractor SRC Cicero, has won a $700m contract to make roadside bomb-jamming equipment for the US Army.

Under the five-year contract, the company will provide upgraded vehicle-mounted devices used to jam radio-controlled roadside bombs.

The new equipment called ‘Duke’ is part of the counter remote control improvised explosive devices electronic warfare (CREW) system.

The contract includes an initial order worth $188m, with an option of further orders to bring the total to about $700m.

Production of the equipment is expected to begin in 2010.
