A survey of weaponry being used by the Indian armed forces discovered that 30% of hand grenades used by the soldiers don’t explode.

Weapons experts from the Indian Army and defence organisations interviewed soldiers to compile the report.

Grenades supplied to the army are made by ordnance factories under the Indian State Ordnance Factory Board.

A retired defence expert said that the army is still using World War II vintage hand grenades, which may have undergone chemical degradation.
