BAE Systems has unveiled its new global tactical vehicle (GTV) at this year’s Defence Systems & Equipment International event, held in London.

The new vehicle is the latest addition to BAE’s family of medium tactical vehicles (FMTV) and incorporates the mine blast-resistant seat (MBRS) and four-point restraint system, an easily resettable lightweight energy absorbing system used to protect troops from explosives such as roadside bombs.

The GTV also features the long-term armour solution (LTAS), which allows for rapid conversion from a performance truck to a highly protected tactical armoured vehicle without compromising load capability, mission certainty or weight-related safety.

The vehicle also meets stringent Euro V emission control regulations on engine design, which demand lower levels of carbon particulates, nitrous oxides, carbon monoxide and unburnt hydrocarbons.
