BAE Systems is to provide armouring kits and components for MRAP all-terrain vehicles (M-ATV) being deployed in Afghanistan, under a contract awarded by Plasan.

BAE Systems Security & Survivability president Tony Russell said the company’s support over the MRAP programme ranges from designing and developing three MRAP variants to providing armouring solutions to each platforms including MATV.

The combat-tested M-ATV uses Oshkosh’s proprietary TAK-4 independent suspension system and provides extreme warfighter mobility and protection.

Work is scheduled to start later this month at BAE Systems production facilities in Fairfield, Ohio.

Oshkosh has been delivering M-ATVs as part of its contract with the US Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command Life-Cycle Management Command (TACOM LCMC).
