The US Army has awarded a $3bn contract to Oshkosh Corporation for 23,000 Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) vehicles and trailers, confirming a contract originally awarded in August 2009.
The Army announced that the contract would remain with Oshkosh after an exhaustive evaluation process spurred by protests filed by BAE Systems and Navistar after they missed out on the original contract.

Oshkosh Corporation spokesman John Daggett said the company will continue to ramp-up the work related to the contract to produce the 2.5- to 5-ton payload trucks.
The contract calls for 12,415 trucks and 10,926 trailers to be produced over the five-year period, said Daggett.
The FMTV is a series of vehicles consisting of up to 23 variants and 17 different models, ranging from 2.5-ton to 5-ton payloads. Oshkosh already produces the Army’s Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles (FHTV).
