The training system, known as the combat skills marksmanship trainer (CSMT), supports the ARNG’s training mandate covering national and international missions and allows small-unit leaders to practise mission planning.

CSMT covers a wide range of simulated defensive and offensive situations including security operations, fire and manoeuvre scenarios, and hostage and clearing operations in urban areas.

The embedded authoring software of the trainer system allows instructors to quickly create new scenarios to reflect emerging doctrinal and mission changes.
