The Lebanese Army has received the first four of ten Puma helicopters from the UAE as part of a military cooperation deal between the two countries.

UAE Armed Forces supplies authority head Maj. Gen. Pilot Fares Mohammad Al Mazroui said that the Puma would be used for search and rescue operations, and medical evacuation, as well as troop and military equipment transport, according to gulfnews.com.

The SA330 Puma helicopter features 4D autopilot and navigation systems supported by GPS and capable of operating at day or night and in all weather conditions over mountainous regions.

The remaining six aircraft promised by the UAE will be delivered in 2011.
