The US Army has awarded a contract to Textron Marine & Land Systems for the supply of 423 additional armoured security vehicles (ASVs).
Under the $461m contract, the company will deliver 327 M1117 ASVs and 96 M1200s Armoured Knights.

The contract has options which if exercised could bring the total value of the contract to $700m.
Deliveries of the vehicles are expected to begin in October 2010 and continue until the first quarter of 2012.
The ASV is a 4×4 wheeled armoured vehicle with an independent suspension system, which provides enhanced crew protection against small arms fire, artillery projectile fragments, improvised explosive devices and landmines.
The ASV family of vehicles can undertake a wide range of missions including scout, infantry personnel carrier, reconnaissance, command and control, and maintenance, convoy protection, as well as field artillery combat observation and lasing teams.
