The US Army has awarded a contract to Oshkosh Corporation to supply more than 4,300 MRAP all-terrain vehicle (M-ATV) protection kits.
Under the $234.8m contract, the company will deliver more than 3,800 rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) protection kits, as well as more than 500 explosively formed penetrator (EFP) add-on armour kits along with spares parts and field support.

With this contract, the number of RPG protection kits to be delivered to the US Army has increased to 7,500 and the number of EFP armour kits to 1,300.
The protection and armour kits provide enhanced protection capabilities for the M-ATV, which uses the Oshkosh TAK-4 independent suspension system with a full payload capacity of 4,000lb.
The M-ATV is specifically designed to deliver the survivability and off-road mobility required for harsh environments in Afghanistan.
To date, Oshkosh has received awards valued at more than $5bn for 8,079 M-ATVs, upgrade kits, spare-parts kits and sustainment support.
