The US Army has awarded a contract to Harris Corporation to equip the MRAP all-terrain vehicles (M-ATV) with JTRS-approved Falcon III tactical radio systems.

Under the $27m contract, Harris will supply additional joint tactical radio systems (JTRS) approved Falcon III AN/PRC-152(C) multiband handheld radios and AN/VRC-110 vehicular radios for all M-ATV vehicles deployed to Afghanistan.

The Falcon III is a future-generation radio, which supports the US military’s JTRS requirements as well as worldwide network-centric operations.

The AN/VRC-110 is a fully integrated multiband vehicular radio system comprising an amplifier adapter and two Falcon III AN/PRC-152(C) multiband handheld radios that serve as handheld transceivers.

Soldiers in a vehicle equipped with AN/VRC-110 will communicate to the other warfighters in the battlefield by using the AN/PRC-152(C) handheld radios in the vehicle, while remaining powered on and connected to the network.
