Thales Canada, along with DEW Engineering and Development, is to work for the Canadian Army’s tactical armoured patrol vehicle (TAPV) programme.

The Canadian Army will offer the Bushmaster infantry mobility vehicle, which provides enhanced ballistic, mine and improvised explosive device (IED) protection.

It will replace the army’s armoured patrol vehicle, the Coyote LAV 2 and will complement the light utility vehicle wheeled.

The Bushmaster family of protected mobility vehicles include patrol, command, ambulance, surveillance and target acquisition, direct fire support weapons and mortar vehicle variants.

The base wheeled armoured vehicle will accommodate ten soldiers, and be equipped with several weapon systems including a remote weapons station, sighting and vision systems, as well as integrated electronic architectures and C4I options to enhance the vehicle mission performance.

The Canadian Army’s TAPV programme is for the procurement of a general utility combat vehicle for missions including reconnaissance and surveillance, command and control, cargo and infantry section carrier.
