Russia says it will deliver S-300 surface-to-air missiles to Iran, despite new UN sanctions against Tehran over its nuclear programme.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Nesterenko said the new UN sanctions did not apply to anti-aircraft systems, with the exception of portable missiles, according to voanews.com.

The sanctions approved by the UN Security Council prohibit Iran from pursuing any ballistic missile-related activities.
Sanctions also call for a ban on Iranian nuclear-related investments and activities, and the purchase of several categories of heavy weapons, including attack helicopters and missiles.
The S-300 air defence missile systems contract with Tehran was not affected by the UN resolution, Russian news agencies quoted agency official Mikhail Dmitrivev as saying.
In 2007, Russia signed a contract to deliver the S-300 missiles to Iran in an effort to strengthen Tehran’s defence capabilities.
