Raytheon has unveiled its new state-of-the-art Patriot modern man station (MMS) at the Farnborough International Air Show in the UK.

The MMS demonstrator is part of the modernised Patriot air and missile defence system’s command and control system, and provides the warfighter with greater target identification, decision-making and situational awareness.

The system also provides the latest innovative technologies and capabilities of the new operator-machine interface and station.

Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems vice-president Skip Garrett said the new modern man station was one of the key upgrades of the next-generation Patriot and would delivers greater capabilities while reducing the maintenance costs.

MMS is primarily used for identifying objects, tracking potential threats and engage hostile targets, including aircraft, unmanned air vehicles, cruise missiles and tactical ballistic missiles.

Features of the man station include colour graphical user interface and touch-screen display that will enhance the operator’s ability to identify targets and priority alerts.
